Visual Forms/PCL is for programmers who:

  • Import OCR and ASCII text files of large blocks of text, eliminating keyboarding

  • Create sections of a form and merge into Main form

  • Embed fonts and/or Marco IDs into the PCL file (form).
  • Add your own cod string into the header of the PCL file.

How does Visual Forms/PCL differ from Visual Forms/WIN

  • Generates the escape codes for the laser printer instead of creating Windows metafiles (prints to laser printers with PCL 4 or higher. Will not print to desk jets, ink jets).
  • Supports PCL bitmapped soft fonts not TrueType fonts.
  • Imports PCX files not BMP files (prints only black and white).

Print Form and Data Together on Laser Printers

Visual Forms/PCL lets programmers design and integrate forms for Windows and DOS apps. without having to hard code escape sequences or modify software designed for end users.   It generates the Printer Control Language (PCL) file containing the escape codes for the laser printer.  Since the portable files have no overhead or control codes to get in the way, the result is small files and fast printing.  It comes with six fonts, supports PCL4, PCL5, Hewlett-Packard or compatible laser printers and requires Windows 3.1 or higher.
